Uniforest in media: Forstzeitung
Sebastian Peer relies on the Uniforest Cobra to boost productivity and improve mountain forest management.
Tyrolean forestry contractor Sebastian Peer specializes in sustainable mountain forest management and selective forest operations in Wipptal, Austria. Since acquiring a Uniforest Cobra Skyline System about one and a half years ago, he has significantly increased productivity compared to conventional skidding with a tractor winch. The extended operating range from forest roads into steep terrain enables his three-person team to harvest roughly twice as much timber in the same amount of time. In the region’s protective mountain forests, where stand stability is a key management objective, the combination of the forestry skyline, excavator, and experienced crew has proven both efficient and economically viable.
Peer deliberately chose the compact Uniforest Cobra 450-25G because it is particularly well suited for log handling while offering the operating comfort of much larger cable systems. Features such as automated carriage travel, configurable operating parameters, and an active rope unwinding system greatly improve efficiency. As one of the machine’s early test users, Peer also contributed practical field feedback that helped Uniforest further refine the product, resulting in improvements that benefit all customers today.
